The Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020 (DBP Act) introduced mandatory obligations for industry practitioners to ensure all designs and building work comply with the Building Code of Australia (BCA) effective from July 2021. Under the DBP Act, these deisgns must be submitted through the NSW Fair Trading portal.
As a registered Design Practitioner – Building Design (Medium Rise), Archi-QS is authorised to prepare regulated designs and make compliance declarations for medium-rise building; building up to 6 storeys, or 7 storeys if the ground or first level is a Class 7a carpark. This can include:
- Low-rise residential apartment buildings.
- Strata townhouse developments: Up to 6 storeys of residential units.
- Office buildings up to 6 storeys.
- Student accomodation buildings with 5-6 storeys of units.
- Community facilities such as libraries, childcare centres, or medical clinics.
